Canadian-Made Catalytic Skin and Wound Care Now Covered Through Ontario Health at Home, Serving 600,000 Ontarians

Ontario, ON – October 21, 2026 – Canadian-made healthcare innovation, NanoSALV Catalytic, is now covered for patients receiving home and community care across Ontario through Ontario Health atHome.

The addition to the formulary recognises the critical role catalytic wound care plays in bridging the gap between hospital treatment and community care.

Megan Leslie, co-founder and CEO of NanoTess, says it’s an important milestone in accessibility and a win for Canadian innovation.

“We know that patients are particularly vulnerable when they are discharged from hospital, and that wound care can seem overwhelming and complex for many people. We also know that wounds need continuity and that can be hard to achieve if treatment options change between the hospital and home,” she explains.

“Having NanoSALV Catalytic on the formulary for Ontario Health atHome gives healthcare providers a simple, effective tool to treat wounds in the community with hospital-grade healing technology. Patients also have greater peace of mind knowing they have access to the tools they need to support healing and reduce the risk of complications."

“The fact that NanoSALV Catalytic is Canadian-made is another important benefit. It represents a win for Canada’s innovation ecosystem, while giving patients an opportunity to support Canadian enterprise.”

In a recent Independent Canadian Consensus of expert clinicians from coast to coast, NanoSALV Catalytic was recommended for use in all open wounds, including chronic wounds, hard-to-heal wounds, and wounds with exposed deeper structures such as tendon, ligament, and bone.

In practice, NanoSALV Catalytic is trusted by physicians, surgeons, and clinicians across Canada to treat post-operative sites, acute and traumatic injuries (e.g. skin tears), pressure injuries, diabetic ulcers, moisture associated skin damage, and persistent inflammatory skin conditions. It provides a critical healing tool to populations including seniors, diabetics, people with reduced mobility, including spinal cord injuries, and those in complex or palliative care.

Improved patient outcomes and advancing clinical care are the primary drivers for NanoSALV Catalytic. Beyond these patient benefits, the technology also delivers meaningful health-system efficiencies. Independent analysis by the Institute of Health Economics estimates that integrating NanoSALV Catalytic into standard of care for wounds can reduce overall treatment costs by 46%.

NanoSALV Catalytic is already covered through Alberta’s public health benefits programs, including Coverage for Seniors, Non-Group Coverage, Palliative, and the Alberta Disability Assistance Program.

NanoTess continues to advocate for vulnerable populations across Canada to further reduce barriers to healing. This formulary addition is a meaningful step forward in that commitment.
