NanoTess is one of Canada's fastest-growing healthcare innovation scale-ups.
Built on social enterprise values, our skin and wound care technology is used by clinicians and patients across Canada, and we hear remarkable stories of healing every day.
Now, as we grow across Canada and into international markets, we are looking for a commercial sales leader to build the sales function that will carry NanoTess into its next stage.
You will be both a spark and a focuser: creating new sales opportunities, carrying the right opportunities through to
revenue and effective implementation, and helping a diverse team concentrate its energy on the priorities with the greatest potential return.
This is a player-coach role. You will develop the strategy, lead NanoTess' direct and distributor-led sales activity, and personally do the work required to open, advance, and close complex opportunities. As the function grows, you will turn what works into clear processes, tools, and playbooks that others can repeat.
How you sell and lead matters. The work we do touches people's lives. You will bring urgency without pressure, confidence without noise, and a person-first approach that earns trust with customers, partners, and teammates.
Here's what you'll own
- Build the sales function. Develop and execute a focused sales plan across priority markets, customer segments, and direct and distributor channels, translating company goals into clear targets, activity, ownership, and accountability.
- Create and close revenue. Personally prospect, qualify, advance, negotiate, and close high-value opportunities. Be comfortable picking up the phone, asking for the next meeting, and using the tools available today to make a sale.
- Turn pipeline into decisions. Build and manage a disciplined pipeline from first signal through discovery, decision, close, implementation, and expansion. Maintain accurate CRM data, opportunity plans, forecasts, conversion metrics, and next steps.
- Lead complex sales. Map clinical or end-user champions, operational stakeholders, economic buyers, procurement, and other decision makers; uncover the cost of the status quo; and build alignment around a credible path to adoption.
- Grow distributor performance. Own relationships with distribution partners and their sales representatives. Establish joint business plans, targets, account priorities, enablement, field activity, pipeline reviews, and regular performance conversations that lead to measurable revenue.
- Provide prioritization for the team. Set a clear commercial cadence and help a passionate team direct their time toward the highest-value opportunities. Coach with clarity and create space for good judgment rather than adding unnecessary complexity.
- Build for scale. Identify gaps in qualification, handoffs, documentation, training, reporting, and sales tools. Step back when needed to build practical systems and playbooks from the ground up, then return to the field to test and improve them.
- Protect implementation quality. Ensure commitments translate into effective onboarding, adoption, reordering, and durable customer or partner value. Work across the company to resolve barriers and protect the relationship.
- Connect sales and marketing. Collaborate closely with marketing on audience insight, campaigns, messaging, content, events, and lead generation. Bring market feedback into the work and own the sales follow-through that converts attention into qualified opportunities and revenue.
- Develop the team. Lead, coach, and grow NanoTess's internal sales capability and extended distributor sales network. As needs evolve, help define roles, select talent, establish expectations, and build a culture of disciplined, ethical, person-first selling.
Here's what success will look like
- NanoTess has a visible, prioritized pipeline with credible next steps, stronger conversion, and forecasts leadership can rely on.
- You are personally creating and closing business while increasing the effectiveness of the people and partners selling alongside you.
- Distributor relationships operate through shared plans, field-level engagement, clear account ownership, and measurable performance - not activity alone.
- The team knows which opportunities matter most, why they matter, and where to focus next.
- Closed opportunities move into implementation effectively and create a foundation for repeat use, expansion, and advocacy.
- NanoTess has a practical, documented sales playbook that becomes more repeatable as the company scales.
Here's what our ideal candidate looks like
- You have built or materially grown a sales function in a scale-up, start-up, or other fast-changing business where the playbook was still being created.
- You can point to complex opportunities you personally originated and closed, as well as teams or channel partners you helped become more effective.
- You understand go-to-market strategy, but your credibility comes from execution.
- You are willing and able to sell with the tactics, team, and resources that exist today and are not easily paralyzed with what still needs to be built.
- You have succeeded in multi-stakeholder, multi-decision-maker sales with long or non-linear buying journeys. Healthcare experience is welcome but not required.
- You know how to manage distributor and channel relationships beyond the executive level by creating engagement, accountability, and pull-through with the people selling in the field.
- You are a strong, steady leader. You create focus without overwhelming others, coach people without taking over, and are comfortable making clear priority decisions when opportunities compete for limited time and resources.
- You are commercially curious and analytical. You use evidence, CRM data, customer insight, and judgment to qualify opportunities and allocate effort based on expected value.
- You can make progress in ambiguity. When structure is missing, you can determine what is needed, build a useful first version, and improve it through practice.
- You communicate complex ideas clearly, listen carefully, and build trust across customers, distributors, frontline representatives, executives, and internal teams.
- You learn technical products quickly and can translate evidence into a relevant business and human value story without losing accuracy or overselling.
- You believe strong selling is an act of service: understanding the real problem, helping people make a sound decision, and following through on what was promised.
- You are legally authorized to work in Canada, able to work full-time from our Calgary headquarters, and comfortable travelling as the role requires.
Here's what you can expect from NanoTess - aside from salary and benefits
- A meaningful leadership mandate with the opportunity to shape how NanoTess grows.
- A hands-on role where your judgment, initiative, and direct contribution will be visible.
- A fast-paced workplace where priorities evolve as we learn and scale.
- A collaborative team that cares deeply about the people affected by our work.
- An opportunity to build relationships across Canada and international markets.
- A chance to help more people access technology designed to reduce barriers to healing.
